It’s been a while.

Man, I love Staind. PSYCHE. And yet, I’ve seen them in concert. With Chevelle. Mind you, I wasn’t there voluntarily to see them. I was shilling Bud Light to rednecks with Rogue. And I had to endure several of the other girls bragging about how their husbands were super jealous that their wives got to see Staind and they did not and meanwhile I was replaying my earlier conversation with Eric in my head where he said that Staind was stupid and I shouldn’t go. I think that pretty thoroughly encapsulates why we never quite fit in in Fayetteville.

Anyway. To play catch-up: I am back in Dayton now and things are pretty sweet, except I cannot seem to get a job of any sort, qualified or otherwise. I have pretty much resigned myself to the idea that I will be subbing next year (although I swear I’m still looking for actual teaching jobs, DAD) and have picked up applications for a couple of local districts. However, I’ve also just been looking for something easy to do in the evenings to make a little extra money, and that’s been proven difficult as well. For instance, I went with my friend Maria to this new restaurant that’s opening up – one of those all fondue places – to try and get a waitressing job. They hired Maria and three minutes later told me they were overstaffed. Apparently Maria was the breaking point? So I can apparently neither get jobs that I am qualified for or overqualified for. Maybe I should just go back to school forever. Is there a way to make money from that?

Eric and I are living in a sweet house in east Dayton with a very neat roommate named Noelle, and we have started a quirky band using the wide variety of instruments we now have in this house. I’ve putting my free time to use to craft stuff that I plan on selling at this big Ladyfest music thing in September, so hopefully that’ll work out. I’ve joined the Gem City Rollergirls and am having a fun time with them as well.

Really, everything’s going pretty great.
