I somehow today managed to have two back-to-back phone conversations that were so ridiculous it was almost surreal. One was with a school district I’m trying to sub for who called and told me I needed to get a TB test before I could sub, despite some recently made ordinance that recalls that – which the other school district I’m subbing for knew about three weeks ago. So I call back to ask them about this, and they tell me that they just heard about it today. And even though they know it’s going into effect, they haven’t been “officially notified” of it and therefore apparently cannot officially tell me that I don’t need one yet. Although they know I don’t need one. What?
Then I called a place back about a job and when they transfered me over to the manager, I’m pretty sure they had either just woken up from a nap or were high on something because I had to endure a six minute conversation of which at least four of the minutes were comprised of, “Uh………… um………. well………. um,” to the point where I found myself staring at my phone with a furrowed brow.
I think I’m going to go back to school to get a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) endorsement on my license, which might hopefully make me more hireable. Is there a way to just get paid to go to school forever? Because that would pretty much be right up my alley. This whole job hunting thing is just way too frustrating, especially considering the people you have to apparently deal with…
